Tokala Inajinyo Youth Mentoring Program hosts a weekend 'Youth Fishing Derby' with the help of Game, Fish & Parks. The event took place at Ghost Hawk Park, outside of Rosebud, SD. The festivities included free poles for the first 100 youth to sign up at the event, and more gear to help with the activities for the day.
The turnout was more than anticipated as fishing poles were gone only 2 hours into starting registration. Although the poles were gone, Tokala and GF&P planned ahead with bait, hats, toys, fruit, and food for everyone in attendance.
SFM Youth Group set up PA systems to help with announcements and provide entertainment. Wiconi Wakan Health & Healing Center also had a booth set up and assisted with all activities.
Adult Corrections catered cookout food for everyone with their own grill and supplies.
All Youth who caught a fish received a prize provided by Tokala Inajinyo.
The event lasted from 10 AM to 5 PM.
